Reception Admissions

Children start Reception in the September following their fourth birthday.

Application packs are provided by the Local Authority and are sent through school Nurseries for us to distribute to parents. 

The process starts in the October prior to the September that your child is due to start. The Local Authority handles all Reception applications and offers of a place are notified by them towards the end of April.

Online admissions for September Reception places open every November. For any queries please contact Walsall Council on 01922 652585.

Admission Criteria in case of over-subscription

1. Children in Public Care (looked after children)
2. Children who have an older sibling already in attendance at the school and who will still be attending the school at the proposed admission date.
3. Children for whom a place at the school is essential on medical or social grounds and is supported in writing by a medical practitioner or a social worker.
4. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the centre point of the home address to the centre point of the school address using the Local Authority’s computerised measuring system with those living closer to the school receiving the higher priority.

Nursery Admissions

For Nursery places, please complete the below forms and email them to childcare@leighswood.walsall.sch.uk or bring them into the school office. Paper copies of the forms can also be obtained from the Childcare office or by calling 01922 457186.
